Senator Joe Manchin, who serves as chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and is currently obstructing climate legislation, received over half a million dollars in campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry during the first three quarters of 2021. We know this because of the work of watchdog organizations like OpenSecrets and Public Citizen.
