Webinar: Fossil Fuel Money and Congress

December 04, 2021 in Faith In Action

The next Creation Justice Webinar will consider one of the central obstacles to passing climate legislation in Congress at this moment: the influence of campaign donations from the fossil fuel industry. Senator Joe Manchin, who serves as chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and is currently obstructing climate legislation, received over half a million dollars in campaign contributions from the fossil fuel industry during the first three quarters of 2021. We know this because of the work of watchdog organizations like OpenSecrets and Public Citizen.

Leaders from both of these organizations will join us in our next webinar along with a leader in the campaign for congressional candidates to take the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge. Faith communities can make a difference in protecting our democracy from the pollution of fossil fuel money.

Even if you can’t make the scheduled time of 1 pm ET on Wednesday, December 8th, still sign up, and you’ll receive a recording.
